Christmas Cards using KGC Stamps

Hi everyone, Heidi here! Today I woul like to show you these Christmas cards.
Now, maybe you’re thinking: “But KGC doesn’t carry Christmas stamps (yet)!“ That’s true, but today I’ll show you a way to create Christmas cards with their stamps nonetheless.

To get these cards started I stamped one of the flowers stamps from the Kennedy Grace Creations stamp set called “Grace’s Little Note“ three times onto some Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface paper using Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink and using my MISTI and clear heat embossing afterwards. I used two separate flowers from each stamp print and this way you can create two cards from three stamped flower images.
I also stamped two candles from the Create a Smile stamp set called “With Candles and Glitter“ on the same paper in the same way. If you don’t have a candle stamp you can draw a candle yourself, find a candle image on line and use/trace that or when you would like to go a little mixed media, find candle images in, for example, magazines and cut those out.

Next I started colouring the images using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and my Pentel Aquabrush. I used the following colours: Geranium Red, Deep Red, Cornflower Blue, Blue, Light Green, Deep Green, Green, Lemon Yellow, Yellow, Bright Yellow and Light Gray. When the images were dry I used a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen to bring back in some of the details in the flowers and the leafs. When that was also dry I fussy cut all the images out using my Fiskars scissors and put them aside.

Then I started working on the background panels: I die cut two stitched rectangle panels from some white card stock and also two slightly larger panels from some matching metallic silver (for the card with the blue flowers) and some matching metallic gold (for the card with the red flowers) card stock from my stash. On my white panels I decided what my lay out would be and then first stamped one of the sentiments from the same Create a Smile stamp set using Versafine “Onyx Black“ ink. And because the background was a little boring and the “white“ from the candle wasn’t very striking on the white background I decided to bring more colour in the background. Marking where the flame would be on the card with a pencil I applied Memento “Dandelion“ ink, using a foam applicator tool, in circular motions to create more warmth from the flame and also creating some contrast for the candle. I used the same technique and a very light hand for creating the ground for the candle to sit on, using Memento’s “London Fog“ ink.

And then it’s already time to put these cards together: I adhered the white panels on the metallic panels using liquid glue and these combined panels to a white card base using one millimetre thick foam tape. Then I adhered first the candles to the card using one millimetre thick foam tape and then the flowers on top using two millimetre thick foam tape. And for my finishing touches I ued some of the gorgeous sequins and seed beads from Kennedy Grace Creations in the colours that come in “Enchanted Evening“ sequins/seed bead mix and also the “Moonbeams“ sequins mix, adhering them to the cards with Ranger Medium Matte.

That’s it for today’s project, I hope you enjoyed and until the next time, have a creative day.

One Layered Card - Featuring Kennedy Grace Creations: Time To Blossom

Hey folks! I'm back to share a card from the Kennedy Grace Creations New Release! The stamp set I used today is the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . I really enjoyed the simplicity of this set. You could totally heat emboss this and do some fabulous watercoloring, but Copic's seems to be the way to go for me lately so that's what I did. I started by stamping the image twice on my card panel. The only masking I did was a tiny bit on the stem. The name of the game was to keep this super simple folks. As I said, I colored the images with Copic's. Another thing I enjoy about the Time To Blossom Stamp Set is that you could choose any colors you wanted. I chose red-violets and yellow-greens, but seriously peeps, whatever floats your boat and it will looks great! To finish off my card, I used a added a couple of hand drawn lines to the background and I stamped a portion of a stamp that is also in the Time To Blossom Stamp Set . That's it! Easy peasy. T
